Speedo Sticking?

Hi all
Recently joined the ranks of the cheap Eunos Brigade with a "92" Silver Roadster, pretty mint with 100K km's.
Yesterday the speedo started sticking at random points, sometimes 30, sometimes higher. It will return to zero once you slow right down and sometimes is OK?
Has anyone had similar, I've ordered a new cable in case but wondered whether it may be the unit?

Does the speedo read in MPH or KPH? Part of the process of replacing the original KPH speedo face with an MPH one involves removing and refitting the needle. The mechanism is quite delicate and if too much force has been used the result can sometimes be a sticky needle.
When you dismantle the binnacle to fit your new cable it might be worth dismantling the speedo and applying some sort of lubricant and gently reassembling it I suppose.
Failing that, the whole instrument cluster just plugs in to the wiring harness and speedo drive so you can do a straight swap - they appear on eBay fairly regularly. There's one here for example. The problem with this approach is that you won't find one with the same odometer reading, so you might want to adjust the donor odometer to match your current reading if you go down this route.

It has had the dials replaced with MPH ones so you could be right, I'll see if it's binding when I replace the cable. Odd that it's been OK for a couple of weeks though would have thought that it would be all the time.
