Yesterday I hit the speed limiter in my Eunos, hard! Indicated 112mph, gps 106mph (private road).

I've read you need to remove a screw on the back of the speedo. Anyone done this, is it an easy job?

Simple job on the 1.6 - removing a screw as you say.

1.8 is much more difficult.

Unfortunately I don't know which screw it is for the 1.6. I suspect Google might be your friend!

Would someone explain what the "speed limiter" is ........ Before some clever Dick replies "Limits Speed" ....... Is it a rev limiter, and if so, what does removing the screw actually do??? Will the engine rev freely??? Info please

On early 1.6 mk 1's it's fitted into the speedometer, and limits (intheory) the speed to 112mph. Looks like the actual value varies a bit due to accuracy.

On later 5's it is programmed into the ECM (I think) and is a little harder to disable.

Personally on my 5 it struggles to get to a speed where this works!

My understanding it there's a contact at 180kmh which causes the rev limiter to cut in.
