Hey,

So I have been debating this for a while now, I've done some research but the info seems all over. It sounds strange lol but the plan right now, is it possible to use standard ECU I have now and near enough drop it In but not use vvt for now?

So I've got two options currently the issue is mainly with the head on the car, it was a skid car for years before and me and my dad found out the where the rear thermostat housing is it's all been bodged with silicon etc and there's water coming out now. On further inspection the stud has snapped inside the head. In short I think it's better to just start over.

Option 1: Buy a new mk1 head, get it skimmed maybe ported later on cams etc long term plans more than likely itb want to keep it na not chasing huge gains as I know that ads also not sure what the above would cost minus the itbs for now.

Option 2: just rip the entire lot out get a mk2.5 vvt engine in and just not use vvt for now but go stand alone at a later date to get it all working but at least it's there ready to go.

So with that being said what's involved or what do I need to change I read up about getting vics working?, do I need a new manifold, coil pack or what to do about the CAS.

The car I have now is 1993 1.8 eunos by the way

Cheers, smile

I cant see the gains being worth the work and money so id stick with your 1.8 if you know its good and your not chasing big power.
After all these cars are best enjoyed as they are.

An early mk2 non VVT would be an easier option and they aren’t so much more expensive than a VVT engine? The VVT engine also has smart alternator (needs ECU control) and return less fuel system so that would need reworking with earlier fuel rail.

You’ll still probably need to replace the engine with engine bay wiring harness, and deal with the immobiliser (matched key + existing + immobiliser module required) unless you can get away with running the mk1 ecu?
