My wife would like an MX-5. Good news.

However, being Canadian she'd like an automatic. It's not a deal breaker as she has a full UK licence but preferably an auto appeals more than a standard (Canada speak for manual).

Are they reliable? Is it just a Ford box (same name..).

She's also open to a TT DSG but an MX-5 is what she's set her sights on.

Thoughts?

I have the power shift in an NC3.5. I have arthritis in my knees and struggled with a clutch.

I find it OK. It will never be a track performer, but as a daily runabout, it is fine.

I went for the hard top as I loved the mechanism of the roof being automatically stowed. But don't do it without the engine running or you will kill the battery.

I've owned it for five years and it hasn't let me down.

Thanks for that, sounds promising. We're both early fifties so we're not after any sort of track work, just a nice cruiser for the odd weekend away.

Might also take a look at a Z4.

PowerSHift comes without the LSD if that makes a difference to you. My PRHT has been excellent over the 8 odd years I've owned if for.
An EGR valve, not cheap and a (&^&^ pig to install according to my indy and a calliper which seized post Covid due to lack of use.

I can't see the lack of a LSD being a problem on her commute.

Thanks for the comments.
