Hi. I currently have a 2010 NC, which my girlfriend has started using, but she wants something with built in Satnav and Apple Play. I’ve been trying to figure out whether the Apple Play is a standard feature on cars after 2018, because I’ve looked at one car which has it, but mostly, the trade adverts don’t mention it. Can anyone help? TIA.

I was told by my Mazda dealer that they can add it to any ND MX-5. However if you want to know if a car already has it and they have pictures of the inside then look for a little white phone icon with an arrow next to the top most USB socket. And I think it came as standard on MY2019 cars but could easily be mistaken.

They can add it for about £350 or you can do it yourself (parts from Amazon £100) but I don't think it was standard from 2019 onwards, plenty of younger cars don't have it.

Thanks both. That’s very helpful and means that I can broaden the search. 👍🏻

With time and decent weather, it's not a difficult job to add it. Plenty of guides \ YT vids showing what goes where.

My Mrs’ 2019 didn’t have it so I asked for it from the dealer as an incentive.

Glad I didn’t try to fit it myself as delivery was delayed due to the dealer blowing the whole unit trying to add CarPlay.

Can't see how you'd damage anything considering how simple it is to install, pretty much plug and play. Assume the dealer didn't disconnect the battery first?

I fitted a kit to a friends Mazda 3 last year and said it was compatible with 16 onwards MY MX5/Miata on the box, took around 20 minutes to fit having looked on youtube first on how to disassemble the trim to get to the socket.

Think it was this device though it came from Aliexpress so was cheaper than Amazon, around £60 delivered
