New clutch slipping and making a high pitch whirring noise
Discussion
Hello
I have recently bought a new clutch and lightweight flywheel.
I followed a YouTube video to install the clutch so I don't think anything I have done is wrong
The clutch is the right way round, I have readjusted the clutch pedal to make sure it's definitely engaging.
The bellhouse went on without any problems so I'm assuming the input shaft is well inside the clutch.
However, when starting the car, putting it into gear and engaging the clutch (releasing the clutch pedal) it makes a high pitched whirring noise.
I did some research online and it said it could be a thrust bearing (release bearing) and it should be okay to drive. So i lowered the car and was going to drive to a mechanic to help diagnose the noise, however the car will barely move as the clutch is slipping.
I used brake cleaner to clean the flywheel, I checked the slave cylinder and fork to see if they both move and they do.
I am all out of ideas and it's driving me crazy, please help!

The clutch pedal doesn't engage the clutch, that's done by the spring. The pedal only disengages it.
If a new clutch is slipping then most likely the parts are wrongly specified.
Did you fit a complete kit of flywheel, clutch cover, clutch plate and bearings or have you only replaced some of those components?

Hmmmm, then I'm out of ideas.
