Hi guys, I’m looking to buy some tyres for my ND mx5 the size is 195/50/16
What would you go for? It’s got the oe Yokohamas on it which weren’t bad. I usually only fit Michelins but only the primacy is available and they might be abit soft for a sportier car.
I like a spirited drive but it’s a daily. Let me know your thoughts!

The ND feels great on 16" wheels but tyre choice is crap.
I use a set of OE 16s for winter with Goodyear all season tyres in a 195/55 R16 size which gives the same rolling radius as my standard 17" wheels. You can get Conti Premium Contact 5 in that size, but I do find it squishes around a lot on nearly 11cm of sidewall and is a lot less planted at very high speeds than on the 205/45 R17 summer tyres. These are all seasons though, which could be the cause rather than the sidewall!

You can get RainSport 5s which is always a forum favourite but in my experience it's a thoroughly "ok" mid range tyre and not the giant killing all weather racing slick that it's made out to be on one model forums and other internet idiot pits. Vredestein Ultrac maybe worth a look, they're cheap too.

If you've enjoyed the car on the Yokos I'd just play it safe and get those I think.
