1991 Cat/Lambda
Discussion
I have a 1991 import car bought from someone in bits and I’m slowly putting it back together.
It has no Cat supplied, just a bypass pipe and the single wire lambda is missing.
I’m guessing the lambda is needed but can I get away without the Cat come Mot time?
I’m guessing running without the lambda control is not recommended?

You shouldn't need the cat and make sure they run the car on the non-cat test, mine didn't pass the emissions this year (wasn't far off), but I checked and they tested it as a UK car, since the chassis number is different and therefore not on the list of cars in the MOT guidance, pointed this out and it has since been tested again, no issues whatsoever.
