I've recently purchased a low mileage MX5 NC 2.0 litre 2006 and have been exploring upgrades.

Would love to go to BBR and get the works but 1) I don't have the budget 2) it's my daily driver and 3) my girlfriend will also occasionally drive it.

There's a lot of information out there, but there are so many different suggestions that it does make it slightly confusing.

I guess the best way to look at it would be at different price points: such as <£200, <£500 and (a more long term) £100+.

Depends if you're after looks, noise or performance.

Can't go wrong with the standard springs, exhaust and intake combo.

Having driven one, I think as a daily it's fine as it, apart from the appalling arch gap some seem to have.

Daily driver? Rip out the single din dash, put a double din dash and decent stereo with phone connection, so you get sat nav etc

Can you see the screen in the sun with the roof down? Always fancied doing this sort of thing to my NC but just thought you won't be able to see it in the sun so didn't bother.

No problem at all, the Pioneer screen is really bright.
I have the roof down all the time in the summer/nice weather

I daily my BBR across South London without any issues at all.

Well worth the upgrades over the standard car if you can find the extra £££

From experience last year in my own NC, I suggest a panel filter and a remap will pay dividends in terms of fun for effort and no mechanical changes.

Improves drivability a lot.

PS. mine is now turbo’d……. Converted it myself, which was a learning experience.

Look out for a decent exhaust manifold, panel filter & remap.

Suspension & brake pads.
