5 Days in and a problem!!

I bought a 2009 Mk3.5/nc2 SportTech on Saturday and drove it all the way from Plymouth to Worcester (around 160 miles) and the car performed faultlessly with no untoward warning lights.

It has been parked up ever since (other than to move it on the driveway on Sunday morning). I decided to go for a spin after work today and as soon as I started it 2 orange warning lights were showing on the dash. The ABS light and the TCS/DSC Indicator light.

I carried on with my drive hoping that they would reset themselves. I turned the ignition on/off several times although each time the lights stayed on.

The car seemed to drive completely normally with no untoward noises etc.

Any suggestions as to what the problem may be?

You have two warning lights pointing you in the direction of a electrical issue with the brakes or traction control system. My guess is an ABS/wheel speed sensor has failed.

However before doing anything else I'd make sure the battery is fully charged and check that with the engine running you get a solid 13V +. I'd recommend buying an ELM327 type bluetooth ECU code reader for £10, download TorqueLite (free) and you ought to get a clearer idea what the ECU is trying to tell you.

OR if you bought it from a dealer phone them, ask their advice, book it into a local dealer for a diagnostic scan & go from there.

Importantly, it's not a total disaster but I suspect the dealer/person you bought it from wiped the codes before the test drive...

I've got a Carista OBD reader is that ELM327 compatible? i will download TorqueLite anyway and give it a try- thanks

You haven't accidentally turned the traction control off with your left knee, have you? My missus has done it a couple of times...

Great, I'll try the steering full lock to lock, then disconnect the battery and then I'll try scanning for codes.

I've downloaded the ios version of forscan, lets hope it 'sees' my Carista.

Should do it worked for me last year when i had the same issue. Turned out to be a damaged cable to the rear offside sensor, quick cut and join the wires and its been fine ever since.
