Just bought and took delivery of a 2010 2.0 litre MX-5. It's currently with a garage who were doing a sort of post-purchase inspection (I bought the car remotely, without seeing it; and agreed with the dealer that I'd look to exercise my right to return the car within 14 days should an inspection like this flag up anything serious).

Nothing really bad, as far as I can tell, was flagged up: front anti-roll bar linkage, and underseal were listed as advisories (but they said no significant corrosion).

So while the car is in the garage, I'm happy to spend a little and get the main things sorted. What should those be? Oil change, air filter, what else? For air filter, would you request a specific type to be fitted, I know people use specialist filters in their MX-5s to improve performance (will a random garage have those though, I don't know)?

Any old air filter will do.

Gearbox and diff oil are scheduled for change every 25k miles IIRC. It surprised me too. I didn't do it until 50k and it made a great difference.
