Help me fit in my mx5 mk1

I've just bought a mk1 Berkeley edition and at 6ft 4in I'm struggling if im honest to get the most out of it with my knees up the side of the steering wheel..

I love the original momo wheel but I reckon a smaller one would help as would getting the seat a bit lower if possible?

I've only picked it up today and drove back for 2 hours on the motorway and it was ok. Its only when I got to some nice roads that I found it to be really difficult going up and down the box using the clutch, which us essentially what I bought it for.

Any tips ?

I'm also after an original stereo? Or something period.

And any tips on some good springs and shocks to improve the ride and lower it just a little?

Google ‘foamectomy’ for removing some of the material on the tombstone seats that will allow you to sit lower. I did it on mine and was great. The seat felt more like a bucket seat also. Some people even directly mount the seats to the floor for more headroom.

A more expensive option is to fit lotus Elise seats which sit lower.

A deep dish steering wheel will help get it away from your legs a bit too. Pretty common to replace the standard Momo with a small diameter one as it’s quite large.

I had a similar thing. MK1 was just about drivable but not great.
2 things I did was fit a spacer behind the steering wheel to bring it closer to you. Not a lot, just an inch or so. Makes a world of difference.

I also fitted Elise seats. Took me ages to fab up mounts and Elise seats don't come cheap but it transformed the car for me. Properly comfy after that.

Others have gone more extreme and cut the lumps off the floor to get even lower but I wasn't convinced that was a good idea. Surely they are there for a reason?
