Windscreen seal

Hi there, you may have seen in my other thread, I've just bought myself an NC to have some fun in at the weekends. One of the issues I've got is that there's a small section on the passenger side of the windscreen where the seal has come away.

Does anyone have any tips on fixing this?

If it pushes back into place (but comes out again easily) I would clean/degrease as much as possible and then push a small amount of polyurethane into the gap to help keep it there.

...or, have a stone crack the screen when you're out driving next and get a new screen and seal courtesy of your insurance company, though of course this is ethically wrong.

Why suggest it?

The car already has had a windscreen replaced; he could end up in a similar position where the trim eventually comes out because someone didn't do a proper job.

For such a small/easy fix, you're suggesting he claim for a new windscreen and dupe his insurer into paying for a new windscreen and trim?

What do you mean with a small amount of polyurethane ?

What about some clear or black silicone sealant, something like this maybe ? ...... Elastosil

PUR will adhere to PUR.

Your product looks good but different curing mechanism to PUR (which will be easier to get hold of and work with). I'm in the trade - have been for 30 years - less is more.

...... still not sure what you mean by a small amount of PU. Can you mention a real product name ?

I use Sika and would say it's the best product on the market for the professional user.

Others include, 3M, Dinitrol, Dow, Teroson and Wurth. Some of these are dual-branded. For DIY jobs like the OP's, Tiger Seal or Winbond should do the trick.

Thanks for the input, I understand and agree. I have also used Sika materials (e.g. Sikaflex) and they are the best.
