Mk3.5 - keys locked in boot
Discussion
It may be simpler - and less damaging - to get a locksmith to pick the manual release lock for the boot.
It's so simple to lock your keys in the boot of an MX-5, I've done it once but it was on the drive so all I had to do was go into the house for the spare. But, having learned my lesson, I now have a spare key (just the metal bit, no fob & no chip) in a waterproof wallet stuck to the underside of the car with two strong magnets.

All sorted. We were able to get a basic key made up based on the VIN code of the car. That was all that was needed to open the boot to access the two real keys (the basic key would only open the boot and doors but would not start the car).
£30 fix.
Well done - now I refer you to my post above; put it in a waterproof wallet with two strong magnets and hide it somewhere under the car. £30 fix.
