What should I do - Broken MX5
Discussion
So last year, my fun cheap MX5 decided not to pass its MOT, I didnt pay alot for it 6/7 years ago, its very low mileage and owes me nothing.
Sadly what it failed its MOT on, would probably cost more than what I paid for it to get it back on the road, mainly because I dont have the skills or tools to do it myself.
So my question to PH, what is the best way/thing to do with it? reg is EDZ26 (wont be on the car for long) should anyone want to see what happened MOT wise, but life events in the last 12 months have meant its just sat on the drive way.

Which model of MX5 is it? certainly MK1s are appreciating so you could look at it that the appreciation will, over time, take the edge off the cost of the repairs.
Also you could look at it from the viewpoint of what could you get for what the repairs will cost? if its not better than the fixed MX5 then perhaps it makes sense to fix it.
What did it fail on?

MK2.5 with rotten sills by the look of the MOT history. Plus other things like ball joint covers and brake pipe corrosion.
I'd say you want to find someone building a MEV Exocet and flog it to them for the engine and all the good mechanical bits.
Basically. Flog it. Otherwise you'll be chasing rust for the rest of eternity, and it sounds like you probably don't have the time/or inclination to want to do that, and it's probably a bit depressing seeing it there rot away. You'll probably feel better once it's gone and you can clean that bit of driveway.
