Can someone explain to me why is I hear grinding noise and have difficulty when I rev high at 3rd (4k) and change to 5th gear makes noise? It wasn't like that and now it happens every time after acceleration on 3rd gear and switching to 5th. When I go 3rd, 4th, 5th then it makes no noises at all :/

Because you're driving like an idiot? Try going from 3 to 4 to 5 like any normal person would do.

Mine did that until I replaced the shifter bush. Doesn’t do it now so you could look at that. The boots will probably need replacing whilst you’re there.

4k is not high rpm rofl

Could be shifter bush, could be syncro struggling to match the bigger drop in revs if you aren't rev-matching, could be you're mis-timing slightly because the 3-N-5 movement takes longer than the 3-4 movement, could be something else entirely...

Thanks guys for replays.

Yeah I know 4k isn't high rev when I got red line at 7k

Well the transmission is full of new stuff,. electronics etc.. (car is like 8 months old)... It rev matches for me automatically....which was a bit annoying at first.

I have to test it today a bit for different scenarios.

I think it does rev match but for 4th gear even though it says to switch to 5th..
Annoying thing is that it quickly drops the rpm but holds it steady on what it would be for next one up

It was never a problem to go to 5th before.
My guess synchronizer is faulty.

Ahh didn’t realise it was a brand new one. Mines a mk2. I’d just take it to the dealer if you think there’s an issue.

Well at least you've won 'Badly worded question of the day' award, so well done for that. Are you an Estate Agent by any chance?

So you're following the idiot lights which try to keep you at 1500-2000rpm all the time? Why buy a car like this if you're going to lug it round in a high gear all the time?
Rev the fekkin' tits off it, and use the gears in sequence, man, or go and buy a people-carrier with an auto-box!

What's your problem?
I go 1,2,3 accelerate to the speed limit on the road, 60mph in few seconds and the I go to 5th so it just rolls at normal rpm.
I still use 4th if I go 70 on motorway and then 5th...
It's normal when you for example join a highway or motorway and have a short distance to get up to speed with all cars -.-

Why are you even on this forum if you don't know how to drive a car?...

After few test I pinpointed it to that it doesn't matter the revs it always makes the noise even if perfectly rev matched from 3rd to 5th gear... However if I go 54 mph instead of 60mph it seems that there is much less noise coming from the transmission.

Yes, I took it to the dealer and they said they didn't find the problem I experienced.

The irony is strong here. If you ever want to discuss driving qualifications or experience, let me know.

Otherwise, in the words of Bannantyne, 'Aam oot'.
