Hi all,

I've got a 1993 Eunos 1.6 with an exhaust that's been poorly patched and the back box is leaking ( clicky for poor photographs and sarcasm). I was going to weld it up but the bolts are made from something more resembling fish food than steel. I'm struggling to find out which exhaust type I need though. There appears to be 3 types. 1 has the back box, a short 90 degree bend almost the exact opposite of the tail pipe, a flange then a centre pipe. The 2nd has the same sort of layout but doesn't have a flange, just 1 long pipe and the 3rd has a flange on a pipe that's approx 120 degrees around and seems to be for the NB's. Can anyone advise if the first 2 I've described are the same? And where the best place is to get a cheap exhaust from? I don't want stainless or anything posh. Just a run of the mill steel exhaust.

Thanks all!

Type 2

Judging from the exhausts on this page, there seem to be 2 different exhaust layouts for the Mk 1, depening on chassis number. I guess you could get cheaper elsewhere but these guys are good to deal with and would be able to help you choose over the phone.

Another thing to be aware of is cat length - don't know if that's a separate issue to the different layouts above or not, but there are (I think) 2 different length cats fitted to MK1s, which might be an issue if you're getting more than just the backbox.

Yeah, I've seen there are 2 different cat lengths. My only worry is this 2 piece arrangement. I don't know if the Type 1 and Type 2 above are the same arrangement but one has a break in it for some reason or if they're totally different lay outs. I've bought stuff from MX5 parts before and they're a great company. I feel bad buying through eBay with their fees but the delivery is free and knocks a few quid off!
