NB high beam pattern

A misty foggy night revealed a quite odd high beam headlight pattern from my NB - bought it a couple of months ago but what with covid lockdown and so on I haven't had it out at night much so never noticed this before.
At first I thought it might be light escaping from behind the headlight, but stopped for a look and it seems to be reflecting/refracting beams diagonally up from the lower outside corner of the lights.
Is this normal for an NB, and if not any ideas what might be causing it?
