hi everyone i have just got myself a 1.8 2006 mx5 could someone tell me if it has a timing chain or timing belt

it,s done 70000 when should it be repalced,cheers

It's not a service item. I ran mine from 14k to 144k, engine never missed a beat (apart from liking a drink of oil latterly).

Is there a problem with the engine that makes you suspect an issue with the timing chain?

there,s no issue with the car it drives faultlessly just wasn,t sure as i,m not very mechanical minded but i,m over the moon with the car,

Don’t worry about it. As long as you change the oil when it’s due, you should never have to replace the chain

Keep an eye on the oil level on the mzr engines.
