Hi,

Was looking at Mazda UK website earlier and the ND2 spec changes and you can really see Mazda decision to try and push the 1.5 litre sales over the 2.0.

I had read about this and Mazda needs to get their average emissions down as a manufacturer but to buy a new RF with the 2.0 you need £30k !

The two lower spec levels won't let you pick the 2.0 engine so to get this lump you need the full leather, adaptive led lights etc spec.

I love my RF 184 bhp 2.0 with cloth seats and less options as now a simple lower spec car and bigger engine is no more.

Shame really but I can't see them selling many new 2.0 unless dealers can do a really good deal. I havnt driven the new 1.5 though.

That's got to be very good news for residual values of the 184bhp one.

It may help a bit i guess, if you want the 184bhp 2.0 litre it does limit the options. Maybe the last ND1 with this engine will prove to be a car in years to come people will look out for. Bigger 2.0 output and lightest ? Mine has heated cloth interior which I wanted over leather (the wife thinks I'm crazy for looking for a cloth car) im Just over leather in convertibles.

The ND2 184bhp cars come fully loaded with an eye watering price to match. It's going to take a while for those to depreciate down and at over £30k I can't see them selling a huge number over the 1.5 litre.
