Despite it seeming a good way to spend Lockdown, I am wondering whether doing the service myself is that good an idea. I used to look after my Mk1 Fiesta - even rebuilt the engine - many many moons ago .... but this I am banging my head against a wall with.

The old NA has been serviced by different garages over the years and my first problem (grateful for help with too) is a stuck Oil filter. The previous garage must have wound it on so tight.... and the MX5Parts Filter cup I have is too big for the filter that is on..... FFS. and of course never mind it being Easter, lockdown means new tools are hens teeth....

But to this subject. Removing the plugs - I pulled the lead out of Cylinder 3 and it was soaked in oil. Pulling the spark out it is well bathed. Is the only way in to there a crappy seal on the Cambox gasket ?? New gasket is all we are looking at ?

You can still get tools on amazon. Or you can just hammer a screw driver through it near the bottom, if you don’t mind making a mess.

Oil in plug will be the cam cover gasket, easy enough to do, parts are still available from Euros and such.

Cheers

Managed to avoid the path of no return (screwdriver) and got to it with grips through the wheel arch

Good to know on the gasket
I’ll line the parts up.
(Side note - aren’t the cool packs a sod to remove !)
