Like all MX5s (I hope), my folding hardtop Niseko leaks like a sieve. The car doesn't get much use (fewer than 250 miles since I bought it in May), and I've noticed that it's mouldy inside. Grey spots on the leather, the ceiling and the door cappings.

It's easy enough to clean off, but is there an accepted longer term cure? Something spray on, perhaps, or a specific cleaning product? I've thrown a couple of 400g silica packs in there, in the hope that will help.

Get full blown moisture traps (the plastic tubs you pour crystals into the top of), the silica packs won't do sh*t by comparison.

How often do you unblock your roof drainage holes? Mine usually needed doing every 2 months or so, I used to use a heavy gauge length of steel wire.

I unblocked the drainage holes when I bought the car (they weren't blocked). Since then, it's hardly moved smile

I'll get a bigger dehumidifier, thanks.

it doesn't need to, crap gets washed down off the roof and into the top of the drainage holes just behind the seats, they'll quite happily get blocked up just with sitting on the drive (if it's outdoors), so bears checking again... mine only ever went mouldy when the drain holes were blocked.

Are your cabin vents set to recirculate or external? that will also make a difference when the car is stood.

How do I change the cabin vent settings? Is that the little clicky button in the middle of esch vent?

I expect they're set for external.

crikey, there's a question, i've not owned one for a few years now, usually there's a slider knob in the console somewhere with an arrow either pointing into the car or a circular arrow inside the car.
