Ahoy MX5 people.

I have a Gilbern GT, it has the MGB engine, I want to convert to EFI, but the MGB engine does not lend itself well to this due to siamesed ports in the head, so I plan an engine swap, the MX5 engine is an obvious choice.

Can anyone tell me, how far from the centreline out towards the righthand side of the car is the head with the intake too?

I'm concerned that I do not have much space around my master cylinders and my steering column.

Thanks. Maybe I'll add a pic.

Edit to add - I know the MX5 engines has been fitted in MGB's, which is a good sign, but, I want to do a bit more checking yet.

Here's a pic

As you can see, I'm unlikely to earn a living photoshopping!

Need to know the length of the blue arrow.

Mine is a VVT 1.8 (146BHP) so slightly different shape, but engine centre to outside of the air chamber is 300mm.

I just had a look, the heater ducting is going to be right in the way and will have to move, that's fairly minor, but the big problem I had looks to be about 320mm away from the centreline.

Encouraging!
