Mk1 mx5 Turbo. 250 BHP. Strip or sell as is?
Discussion
Mods : this is NOT an advert!
edit : hopefully this will be clearer
Morning,
I currently have too many MX-5s and need to cut back - one of them is a tatty MK1 turbo which while fun to drive, isn't suited to me or what I want to use it for. I don't fit in too well and I'm not a good enough driver to take advantage of the power!
The original advert text was:
The car itself isn't worth much, it passed its last MOT but there is rust there, so the value is in the parts fitted. The reg is M76GGJ to check the history.
My question is, am I better off selling it as it is or getting it stripped and selling the parts separately?
Would anybody have any idea of rough values either way, or perhaps other more suitable places to enquire?
Thanks!

I am a motorsport designer and have built this MX5 gradually over about 4 years with the intention of creating a fast turbo MX5 with an underwhelming appearance.
I'm selling as I have moved on to building a TVR Cerbera, so need to prioritise that one.
I have used high end components in order to create a free breathing turbo MX5 with a lot of tuning potential. I have only manually modified the base turbo map provided by Megasquirt based on Lambda results, and it was such a fast/fun & driveable map with a safe A/F ratio off the bat I didn't get it rolling road tuned (I don't have a rolling road graph) I can only estimate power at 200bhp with minimal turbo lag.
This is so much fun on the road, people just don't expect it to launch away.
It has only been on one trackday at Bedford where it surprised a lot of people, it was the fastest MX5 turbo, and was keeping up with some high pedigree cars, see linked vids. The base car is CAT D, and the front crank pulley bolt has been welded to the pulley to stop it wobbling (2 years ago). Please note the steering wheel included will be a Mazdaspeed one. A small crack has been noticed on the exhaust manifold, it must have appeared over the last 3 years of use and will require a tig repair at some point, this should be possible in-situ but I don't have the time to do it. The electric windows are also very sticky, as well as the pop up lights, also the tacho isn't working. Its a reliable car and doesn't/drip loose coolant/oil, and isn't that thirsty. I've started using it to commute (60miles round) to work recently as its my last chance to use it!
To clarify it is very reliable. It has only ever broken down once when the battery gave up 2 years ago.
Please come and have a look (near Bicester), no test drives until price agreed and insurance provided.
Videos: (The clunking sound around corners was an caused by the midpipe touching the
halfshaft as the bolts between it and the backbox had worked loose, now fixed.)

Since then, its been remapped (still needs tweaking, cold start isn't great) and had a power steering rack fitted. I am a motorsport designer and have built this MX5 gradually over about 4 years with the intention of creating a fast turbo MX5 with an underwhelming appearance.

How about do an advert so that people who are interested can make offers ? Oh, hold on.
If you strip it you have to account for your labour in doing so.
And storage too - I don't have anywhere at the moment. Which is why I was trying to get a rough idea to see if its worth it or not. If you strip it you have to account for your labour in doing so.
I may have to try and advert...or an ebay listing

Looks to me awfully like an advert.
The text in the middle IS from the original advert, to give an idea of what is on the car. My question is at the bottom Splitting is obviously better financial decision.
