Wind deflector question on my new to me laguna blue NA

Recently bought a UK NA 1.8 in laguna blue - seems like quite a rare colour.
A basic car with keep fit windows, locking and steering. It needs a good clean up as the last owner who had it for 23 years forgot it had wheels that need cleaning. Apart from that it's a nice enough car having only done 76k miles with fsh and recently had the sills welded (but not painted to match)
Nice to drive but .... do wind deflectors do the job on these? We had ones in our old SLK and CLK and it was really noticeable and it worked well.
