Are there any MX5 insurance specialists you recommend ?

Have a spare 10 years or so of NCD to use, or do you guys tend to use Classic insurance for an NA ? guessing NB is on the verge of being on a classic policy and NC's still a way off ?

Got some quotes, cheapest was Performance Direct at £151, cant argue with that, loads of choice at under £200, on an NA.

Footman James

When i got my NB it added about £30 a year to my collectors/classics policy. And that was with all mods declared - coil overs, roll bar, exhaust, induction kit, race seat, harness, etc

Greenlight for my NC with a fair few mods.
When I had an Na footman James were the cheapest (get a good discount if you join mx5oc) but remember on most classic policies you wont earn anymore ncb.

Nobody seems to like them, but I've just renewed with Flux for the third year.

Had my other car insurance with them too, just renewed that for the 5th year.

Swinton for my supercharged mk3.5, surprisingly competitive for modifications.

I think a lot of the insurance companies have got with it on mods, rather than just saying no, business is business and modded stuff probably less risk due to all the effort put in by owners.

My premium dropped slightly when I added some modifications!

Wow, that’s cheap, didn’t think they would insure anything for under 100 quid.

As always with these things, it's best to shop around. There's so much variation, especially depending on your postcode.

I was with Flux, then moved to Admiral when Flux jacked their price up after a year, now back with Flux again.

Chances are I'll go back to Admiral again come renewal time!
