Hi,
I've just rewired the offside reversing light into a fog light. How do I make it red, please?

Also is it an MOT failure if there is no dashboard indicator that shows the fog light is on?

Cheers, Camerart.

Use a red bulb ? I thought you need a tell tale light too.

I use reversing lights far more often than rear fogs.

In fact I can't remember the last time I used rear fogs.

One is a legal requirement, the other isn't!

Pretty nuts considering the amount of single track b-roads we have in this country. I have had the displeasure of needing to reverse back to a passing place in a car with useless reverse lights & it sure as hell isn't fun. I'd take bright, high mounted, reverse lights over a rear fog any day.

Hi,
Yes, Fog light is a legal requirement, the reversing lights aren't.
I've left the nearside as a reversing light.
I'll get a red bulb, thanks.

Pretty much all Mk1 imports.

(Well, they have one reversing light and no fog - a common modification is to wire the redundant reversing light as a fog, rather than hang a cheap Halfords part off the rear bumper)

You can get red tinting spray, could use that inside the white lens.

Apologies. I misunderstood. I thought you were removing all reversing lights.

p.s.
When I said I use reverse lights often I referred to warning following cars of my intentions. ( i.e. Go past a parking space and wish to reverse back into it.)

Hi,
A fog light interior indicator is a requirement.
Is there one in the dashboard light cluster?
Cheers, C.

On my eunos I cut a small circle of red film and fitted it over the reverse light lens (white) you couldn't tell it wasn't factory unless you got your eye right up to it and it was easy to peel off if for some reason I had changed my mind.

Hi,
I've now re-wired the boot lid stop light back into the required stop light.

I've re-wired the offside reversing light into a Fog light, and added a red LED on the dashboard, as the required indicator.

I painted the for bulb with red dye, which is a bit pink when lit, but I'll try other ways to colour it too. I have some red plastic.

Does anyone have a Eunos wiring diagram?

Hi G,
I've spent the morning looking for red bulbs. IN excess, 2x orange £1:85 Halfords, 1x red bulb £550, and it's hardly any different to the one I dyedfrown

Ebay has loads of them. I used the proper glass dye years ago before red bulbs were available. Couple of coats were all that was needed.
