As per the title, any recommendations on a suitable OBD2 reader for an MX5 mk2.5? No particular budget in mind, but I suppose not too expensive as they're simple cars. I have an intermittent engine warning light so would be nice to get to the bottom of that and keep it for the future for anything else that might come up.
Thanks!

Any specific ebay one? Is the Torque app suited to specific models or generic?

And any reason to get an app based one over a standalone model?

Sorry for all the questions, never had one and don't know anything about them!

You can have my spare one if you like for a fiver posted... and that's the exact one i used on my mk2 mx5.

Mostly it's just cost and convinience.. i probably only use one once a year if that, so no point in spending loads on a proper one if it's just for the odd code clearing or reading.

The torque app and a bluetooth dongle should work with any OBD2 ecu, although i did have to add some lines of code to get it to see the JOBD in my imported Toyota.

Thanks designforlife for the offer, tempting but I think I would prefer a standalone unit that doesn't require an app.

I'll check out ebay and thanks both for the advice smile
