Hi all,

MX-5 NC on an 06 plate. As stated in title - I do not think there is any way to get the hook to safely mount.

What's the best solution? I'm thinking of retapping the threads, but they'll obviously go again eventually. Is there anything more permanent? Maybe some kind of kit with a captive nut and a hook to fit it?

Sorry if I'm not very clear. Let me know if I can clarify anything

Do you mean the thread on the car is rusty, or the removable tool that you screw in? If the latter, you can pick a replacement up from ebay pretty easily.

Clean out the threads with a tap, put some copper grease on them.
Stop buying rusty cars because this is what happens.

You’re probably right. A good look underneath told me it was structurally sound, but I didn’t think to check that thread
