Mazdaspeed smoked/dark headlights?

I bought my car 02 sportive mx5 (mk2.5 svt for you guys I think?) with Mazdaspeed dark headlights, and while out at night a small deer like animal ran straight into my car destroying my wing/bumper and headlight. Can't find any for sale, they seem rarer than hens teeth but I heard that it's possible to do it yourself at home, and was wondering if anyone had any pictures of someone that's attempted it before, or somehow someone that has a pair that's not astronomically expensive ?

Heard something about baking them in an oven and painting the inside of the headight?
