So i paid £2750 for a 55 plate mx5 in mint condition with 54k on the clock and am supposed to be collecting it today
however i checked online for the MOT cert and though it passed it had a few advisorys
i just wanted to know if they are massive issues?

1-offside front anti roll barattachment bracket/mounting corrded but its strength is not seriously reduced
2-nearside rear suspension arm corroded but not seriously weakened
3-offside rear suspension arm corroded but not seriously weakened
4-nearside fromt service brake bindingbut not excessively

should i be concerned

i understand its a 13 year old motor and exoect the odd bill but should i be concerned and cancel the sale

Reference to item 1

The front ARB mounts onto those infamous front chassis rails, which is the Achilles Heel of the Mk2.5 (which I assume this is)

This is a photo of my '03 Sport just after I'd bought it, still with 6 months MOT left on it. Admittedly I had "inspected it" with my little toffee hammer.

Note that when the bracket is removed all the bolts shear.

It didn't worry me as I was aware of the problem and I am a welder by trade, but factor in a £700 repair in the next year or so if you buy.

(I didn't pay anywhere your amount and that was nearly three years ago)

700 quid. Wow that sounds like I should give the car a miss.
Thanks for the heads up

bend over and have a look..they all rust , it might be a light bit of rust that can be saved or might be close to needing repair

not the kind of car you buy without looking or having someone look at the rust prone areas

That doesn't necessarily mean you shouldn't buy it. Just that you should factor in any imminent repairs.

I'd say mine when I bought was worth £2200, and I payed £1275. That makes it a viable repair.
