Anyone tall got a mk3 mx5?

Not sure how much headroom can be created by changing the seat to a bucket?

It entirely depends on build. If it's all in the body you'll need to lower the seat with some aftermarket brackets. If it's all in the arms and legs than it should be fine.

Im 6'4" with long legs (and admittedly gorilla arms). I can fit in a Mk2.5 and drive it comfortably, if that helps.

I'm 6'4" and slot nicely into an NC but that's the only MX5 I can fit in.

I'm 6'3" and fit with my hair just brushing the hardtop roof on my wife's.

Wouldn't want to travel any distance though as there's no wriggle room.

I'm 6' 1.5" and manage fine. I did go to the local Mazda dealer and sit in one first before buying though.
Which is what you should do.

6ft5 and I fit on standard (early) non adjustable seats. Changing to a tillet b5 for even more room. Been fine for the last 18 months.
Later height adjustable seats sit higher.

So there is some room to be taken out of the standard seat then? Anyone in particular provide a mod or bucket seat mounts?

If you do Facebook, Search for the mx5 NC there are is a UK group with loads is good info. There is a chap on there called Adam James Taylor who does a bracket to give you a flat mounting point to then mount whichever bucket seat mounts you like.

Alternatively there are several similar items available from America but obviously will need shipping so end up quite expensive.

You can mod the standard seat rail to give you a little more room because the standard seat actually sits a couple of cm higher then the floor mounts but gains are a little limited

We have a Mk3 PRHT. Son is 6'3" tall and is hunched in the passenger seat. The height adjust on the driver's seat (2.0 Sport Tech) permits him to get comfortable, but has to work his legs around the steering wheel during ingress and egress.

How are you mounting the Tillet? This could be the trick

Not tried this but I think results will vary depending on the seat type. Early seats have a rise in the runner at the back and this bracket eliminates that. Later seats don't have the same rise and the runner is flatter but the seats are deeper so it might help but will be less pronounced.

With this bracket
https://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=656633
And tillets on tillet soundmount brackets. Should get them as low as the top of the mounting humps.
Potentially more room to go lower than the mounting humps but I am hopeful I won't need to.

Thanks

That’s the ticket then. With a steering wheel which sticks out higher will be fine.

I'm 5 ft 8"

I have a Mk3, I would not like to be 6ft and drive this car, It's nearly at the end of the seat rails with my short arsed legs

Best bet is to test drive one smile

Sorry for late reply, only just spotted this.

I’m 6’3” and find my NC totally fine. It’s an earlier one, if that makes a difference.
Not really with a helmet though. I do fit, but it keeps scraping and catching the top which would be pretty distracting if I tried to drive that way
