My wife's 1999 MX5 10th anniversary needs a new hood as the original one is splitting. She'd like as original as possible, so vinyl rather than mohair.

Does anyone have any experience of replacement hoods and places for fitting?

Thanks

Depends where you live, I have never used myself (yet), but Jack Smith Trimmers, Swansea used to be one of the "go to" places for mx5 hoods.

I remember his name as I need new hoods in next few years for my S-ltd and RS-ltd. Was planning on holiday/road trip down to him. I had read that people travelled from Scotland down to him to get work done!

My business, Goodwood Sportscars, specialises in MX5s and we fit hoods here in Berwick upon Tweed (and have done for some 15 years). Can supply and fit a hood to match the original on your 10th Anniversary in blue vinyl with glass rear window.

  • EDIT** Just noticed that you are in Devon so Jack Smiths will be closer. South West Roadsters are closer still and have a good reputation.

Thanks for that, she's been in contact with SW Roadsters, but hasn't fully decided who to go with.
