Is this a central locking kit?

My passenger side door kept getting stuck, so I decided to take the door card off and take a look. I wasn't expecting to find the black thing on the metal braces once I got in. After de-coupling it from the door lock mechanism, the door now opens and shuts, lock and unlocks as it should. Am I right in thinking it's a central locking kit of some sort?

I thought so! Guessing the rod that connects it to the locking was originally straight. I've taken that rod out and left the rest of it in the door now, I'll just pretend it doesn't exist.
