Hi all, eyeing up the purchase of a BBR Turbo NC as it looks like it ticks all the boxes I'm after. Would rather get one that's already had the conversion done given the costs involved.

Box Fast Classics have two up on their site:

https://www.boxfastclassics.co.uk/

One's a MK3 and the other's a MK3.5. Whilst I could probably stretch to the higher priced one I'd rather not if I didn't have to. After some informed opinions on whether the newer car is worth the extra money for the improvements to the engine etc. (I'd be changing some of the cosmetics, those headlight eyebrows would be coming off straight away for a start).

I'm aware there's a stage one MK3.5 up on eBay too, but having talked to the seller and followed up with BBR it sounds like it's had a replacement engine after the original turbo went pop, so that's put me off that one a bit.

Tread VERY carefully.............

If you want to go to the pub and talk b-----s about how much hp you have then go ahead, however if you want to do track days etc step away!

BBR fitted a turbo kit to one of my race cars a few years ago, when it went wrong they changed their terms & conditions to NOT cover track work.....🤔

Yes I've read lots of input on that across various forums with the early manifolds going wrong and you having to put it right at your expense on a customer car, so I can understand the bitterness there.

That said, it doesn't look like it's a common problem.

It's not a problem if you go to the pub, it is however if like my friends you track it!

To be fair he hasn't mentioned needing a track car.

Has anyone ever done an independent test on BBRs various states of tune on the NC? They always seem a bit er, optimistic to me.
I suppose if you've spent £££ on your +40bhp it's unlikely you'd get it tested on an honest dyno and tell everyone if it wasn't.....

Asked for some photos of the underside on the 2008 one, doesn't look too bad to me and I'd probably get it treated with Dinitrol. No expert though so if someone disagrees I'd welcome their opinion.

You seem to have done your research but if you can stretch to the later car then I would. I've got a BBR supercharged mk3.5 and it's an absolute hoot.
