Turbo kit bought
Discussion
I also googled that kit, as it was new to me too.
My only question is what about upgrading the ECU and injectors, etc. Those items are not mentioned at all in the kit, but they should be part of the upgrade.
Keep us informed with your progress, very interested to see how it all develops.

this is the kit I went for:

Injectors you need to source, I have a set of yellow RX8 injectors to go on, however think they are copies so may end up getting binned off for something else. ECU wise the kit comes with an ME221, will give it a go. I have not used one before, always used Megasquirts on previous tinkerings and actually have an MS2v3 almost built for this car that will get used if I don't get on with the ME221. Only thing I need to source now is the cat back exhaust, unsure what system to go for at the moment, I have asked G19 what systems they have used on the in house conversions they have done. Given they are making the downpipe and sports cat setup I think they should offer a full system with the kit.

Turbo kit drops next week, hopefully will get the exhaust out and diff swapped tomorrow.
Picked up a second hand Mishimoto ally rad yesterday, and also found someone selling Mishimoto transmission coolers for sub £30 on ebay, and as mine is an auto I had to get one. Cooler is a bit bigger than I was wanting however won't need to worry about cooking the box fluid.

Wondering if it is going to be easier to take the bumper off to fit the rad/cooler/intercooler rather than struggle working through the access gaps.

You're turboing an auto? Is that a common? How does the auto box like the extra torque?
Many questions!
Box can take the torque, been used in lots of heavier things than a 5 including vans, pickups and taxis. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jatco_4N71_transmiss...Many questions!
Know of them running upto 280bhp, can't remember the torque on that one though. Launch should be good though with the 3.6 diff once it has some power, 50ish in first, 75ish in 2nd
On the stands (moved them wider now)

heat shield off, and undoing the manifold, got a mix of complete studs coming out or just nuts, at least none have snapped

Will get the rest of the exhaust off tomorrow and get the rads out.

Big old fight with the 5 today getting the exhaust and rear suspension brace off. Blood was shed, man sized tools came out and the 5 lost.

None of the nuts/bolts came out easy...

So question is, do I wrap the downpipe in bandage or will that shift too much heat under the floor? Silicone pipework is going to be close to the turbo & downpipe.

Junk pile is getting bigger

Powertools have their revenge, managed to get the bottom hose taking off the exhaust. Luckily the top hose can be shortened to replace the bottom hose, top hose is not needed due to the coolant reroute

Cambelt and waterpump swap should be easy now, lots of space
