I'm looking at buying a mk 2 or 2.5.
Looked at a couple, one had a little chassis rail rot (as per photos on the other thread), the other was cooked. I've taken to asking outright and all I get is "it's got an MOT, it should be fine" or "it looks clean underneath".
I get that it's a very specific question to be asking, but it is a common fault on the car they're selling, one that could very well be half the value of the car to repair.
Just venting. Blergh. Anyone in Norfolk selling an MX 5 for less than two grand with decent chassis rails? Preferably in red 😁
Or anywhere?
I may end up going the MGTF route at this rate.

Cheap solid cars do exist, but patience is key to finding one. And keeping a close eye on Friday Ads / Gumtree / Pistonheads as well as more obvious places.
A question I asked when buying my last one was 'where do you keep it?' - both of the MX-5s I've owned were kept in a garage by the previous owners, and neither ever needed any welding.
