Hi all, I went to see an mx5 MK2.5 tonight. I had a scrabble about under the arches and the left hand chassis member looks solid as a rock. The right hand one was starting to look crusty round the ARB mount not full of holes like the horror shows you see, but a bit of flaking was starting.
Should I just look elsewhere? I'll put some pictures up if I can.

I think this should work. That wee hole to the right looked like it was supposed to be there, but I don't know.

I bought mine last year knowing it would fail this year on both rails, looks like your a year or 2 off that stage there, maybe more if you keep out of the salt. All depends on your budget or skills to repair yourself,it will cost at least 6 to 7 hundred for both sides. These mk2/2.5s rust from the inside out.

My stance would be if you can see a little from the outside there will be more on the inside. These things eat themselves from the inside out, ask me how I know...

Here is the outside and inside of my drivers side, the passenger is worse so thought I would tackle this side first.

I have a receipt for 2016 for the patch so it gave it 2 years of life before it blew out again.

All goes well with my repair I might have to offer a service to do this for others as I see alot of people sending there car to the scrapper for this issue and the garages charge so much to repair properly it's almost a rite off.
