The standard mirror is way too big, it doesn't matter how high I push it up it's still too much in the way of what is a small windscreen at the height I sit. Has anyone put in a smaller mirror in its place or is there anything out there that is a straight swap? I've never changed a rear view mirror before, is the ball point which attaches to the holder a standard size and would anything fit from other cars such as a Golf which is a far smaller mirror?

It's something I wouldn't mind knowing about too as it's right in my line of vision when i'm cornering, just lifting it up would be good as I think it's too low down. There was a thread on Miata.net very recently where some guy did a very detailed swap with part numbers etc, he didn't do it for these reasons though, just because the one he fitted had more features!

Here is the thread which leads up to it: https://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=670935

This is his write up: https://forum.miata.net/vb/showpost.php?p=8995509&...

Not exactly what we're after I know, but there is some useful info in there like how different mirrors seem to fit the bases.

The mirror lifts up if you haven't tried it (it's on two pivots), I've got mine pushed as high as it will go though and it's pretty much level with my eyes

I like the twin ball adjustability of the mk 2 mirror so much that I prised one off the screen in a scrappy
and glued it on the new screen I had cut for my Seven.

If you don't like yours then prise it off and glue on whatever takes your fancy.
