I noticed my wife's sidelight/indicator lens was covered in condensation so thought I would take it off and have a look.
The sidelight connector/bulb holder was flopping around, brittle
and generally knackered so I had a nose and found this:

http://www.autolinkmx5.com/sidelight-bulb-holder--...

I opened the bag to find what I think is a repeater bulb holder.

The company refunded me so no problems there but is the advert wrong?
Is there a MK1 sidelight that this will fit?

Are there two different types of sidelight on Mk1's

Looks just like the sidelight bulb holders on my mk1, they just twist into place in the grey plastic of the sidelight casing.
What does your old bulb holder look like?

Ah i think I see what's going on - it looks like you can get bulbs to light up the orange reflectors actually on the sides of the plastic bumpers, which is what you received from Autolink in the first place, whereas what you actually need is the small loom for the indicator and sidelight that's fitted to the clear front indicator housing.

So what you got was a replacement bulb holder for these -
https://www.mx5heaven.co.uk/product/mazda-mx5-mk1-...

The part you need is this one from MX5 Parts, which is the small loom that runs the indicator and the "front sidelight":

I wonder if those reflectors light up as standard? I don't recall ever noticing them on so perhaps that's just a popular after market mod. I'm going to go have a look on my car.

EDIT : yeah no bulbs behind the orange reflectors on mine, must be an after-market mod and Autolink thought that's what you meant.

Thanks, that seems to be the case.
Strange the advert says it's a sidelight bulb holder when it clearly isn't.
