Any ideas, chaps? In the superstorm the other day, the MX5 filled up with water whilst stood (level, with hood up) on the drive. I've so far mopped/drained 4 gallons out of the floor pan and it's just starting to dry out. Met Office reckon we had well over 50mm of rain in an hour - never seen anything like it in my 60-odd years.

Where to look for the source of the leak, please?

Roof drain holes potentially blocked. Roof open look down behind B pillars for hole in plastic liner. Rod out with something long and pliable, like a 2 foot long pipe cleaner. Wire tends to cause damage if not used to doing it.

I use one of these to clean out the drain holes: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Trombone-Snake-Brush-Do...

Be careful, you can push off the pipe that drains the water and then the car becomes really noisy.

Never pull the cleaner back, pull it completely through from underneath the car

I believe that there's an official Mazda modification to cure this issue (wider drain pipe?)

Can anyone recommend a garage that's familiar with this? South East for preference.

Thanks

Are these the rectangular grids (about 1" x 2") just behind the 'B' pillar? Does the grid part come off for access to a drain hole?

Thanks to all - apologies to Jeremy for not having time to look at the already-posted Youtube clip - I despatched SWMBO to buy a wet vacuum thingy today and will attempt to dry it (again) and poke the holes clear tomorrow.

Cheers chaps, PH helpful again! smile

The front scuttle panel can cause leaks mainly front footwells, water under seats is usually rear drain holes full of crap

After a lot of poking and prodding, and a couple of hours with the newly-acquired wet vacuum, the car is now dry(ish).

Holes took a lot of finding, then I realised it was because there was a foam filter pad-on-a-wire thing covering the top of the holes. Once this was removed, I found the orifices and managed to clear them of debris.

Next job is a slightly sticky NSF caliper...
