My Eunos project car
Discussion
So nearly a month since buying my 1993 Auto Eunos I have just started commuting in it today
The car has complete new rear brakes, new wipers, new battery and a new soft top (which took 2 days to fit over the baking hot bank holiday weekend - mostly done by my poor husband - the guy really outdid himself with this one). The rain drains were completely clear - I don't think it has ever seen rain to be honest. We also managed to un-stick the wing mirrors with WD40 and a lot of gentle pressure.
I have it booked in for a service next week as the radiator could do with being flushed and whilst the oil looks fine, I'd like to sort an oil change while I am at it. It runs a little hot.
Now I have been driving it for a bit, I've noticed that the speedo over reads a lot when travelling over 50 mph - 65 mph looks more like 80 on the speedo (checking against other traffic on the M6 and using Waze to estimate my real speed). The speedo also sticks at the top speed and takes ages to come down. it seems ok when travelling around 20-40 mph.
The odometer is reading kilometres not miles - I thought it was going up a bit fast, but now I've checked it's recording 8 for a 4.6 mile journey, for example, which is the right ball park for miles to kph conversions. It's been recorded as miles on the MOT for about 10 years, and it's too late to get it corrected on the current MOT - done 3 weeks ago - so I'll just have to wait until the next MOT instead (or pay for a re-MOT). As the mileage was in km when it was first imported, it's already flagging mileage issues on the car checks, and turning it back shouldn't cause too many issues in the long run. However I don't want to get into any arguments with the insurers about going over the 5000 mile limit I've agreed. I plan on blatting about in it right up to the wire lol
I also need a battery vent tube and I need to start treating the surface rust. The steering also makes a scraping noise at low speed - this is definitely local to the steering wheel so I think it just needs lubrication, but I need to work out how to get at it.
I should probably have sorted a few pics, but I am not much of a photographer.

Today I now have a tiny chip in the windscreen - bah
I bought a kit from Halfords to do my own windscreen chip repairs. It works quite well in my opinion, so I'd recommend doing it yourself if you can't be arsed to find someone to do it for you.Today I now have a tiny chip in the windscreen - bah
