I woke up recently with the mx5 itch again. I've dipped in and out of ownership over the last 10 years or so with 2x NAs 2xNBs and 1xNB facelift.

I usually buy at the bottom end as I'm perfectly happy fixing them up a bit and doing a bit of modding. My initial plan was to pick up an NA for £1k - £1.5k but its become apparent that's not so easy any more. NBs are now the cheap ones but after suffering the heartbreak of having to scrap my last NB (a 10ae) due to the chassis legs turning to dust I'm reluctant to buy another. What has struck me is how cheap I can get an NC these days. There are 3 2006 2.0 models near me for less than £2.5k.

Initially I hated the idea of an NC but I'm really coming round to the idea now. Who here has went from an older model to an NC and how has the driving and ownership experience been in comparison?

I made the jump from a MK1 to a MK3 a few years ago. I say do it. They are a better "car". A bit less raw, but still very easy to throw around.

All mine has ever needed is a wheel bearing, droplinks, and coils (last year). Rest of the cars been "bullet proof". (Famous last words).
