Yes, just replace the full Lucas sealed beam units with a conversion kit which takes standard H4 bulbs, you can then go as fancy as you want with the bulbs but basic H4s made a big enough difference for me. The conversion kits are about £25-£30 a set on eBay. Just Google Lucas 7inch conversion kit. They are cheap because the size used to be pretty standard and fit original Minis, Landrovers and the like.

I’ve got Phillips racing vision h4 bulbs and wipac quad optics clear lenses and it looks almost HID. Seriously impressive output.

yes

This is an easy option, massive improvement to my first Mk1 after feeling like I was outdriving the original lights at 60mph.

This, coupled with some Osram Nightbreakers and you'll be good to go mate.

If you go to www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk there's a great selection of bulbs etc.
Also if you contact them their advice is always solid.
I put a set of Phillips Racing Vision barely legal bulbs into the tin-top before heading North.
This included a night-time trip around Kielder and local countryside.
Cheap they aren't (though ABD's price was pretty good) but to say I was impressed by their output is an understatement!
HTH.
Cheers, Pewe
