Coming up to 30,000 miles and need a set of tyres. It's on factory supplied Bridgestones at the moment which I quite like but I'd like to try something else if there's anything better so I'm after recommendations. My first thought is Michelin PS4s which have good reviews and I've always liked Michelins for my road cars. Money isn't an object, I'm looking for road tyres not trackday, handling is important but also noise and wet road grip, I'll be using them all year round and about 25,000 miles a year. Size is 205/45 17.

Now the twist...

It's for a Fiat 124 Spider. There's not much point in asking on the Fiat pages as I suspect that I've got the highest mileage 124 Spider in the UK so it's likely that they're all still running around on Bridgestones anyway so I thought I'd ask you lot as you've probably got more experience of what works on what's a largely similar car.

Flameproof pants donned.

Shoot!

I run rainsport 3s on my MK3 which has the same tyre size. They’re a bit noisy but I don’t think there’s a better all round road tyre for the MX5. THey grip nicely in the dry and in the wet they’re just ridiculously good. I used to daily my MK3 up and down the UKs motorways and these tyres inspired so much confidence rain or shine.

They wear out ridiculously quickly, I had some that lasted a year in my rear end and I had slicks left. I've got Michelin Pilot Sport 3's now and they've lasted over twice as long and are still going strong. They might be £30 more but they last way way longer so the extra cost is totally worth it

I think that has a lot to do with driving style. My Mrs also has them on her MK3 and has done 10k on them so far and there’s loads of life left in them.
