The port/cylinder spacing is different between the engines (1.8 is longer, obviously).
So the manifold, and usually the downpipe will be different.
Everything else needed to convert is basically the same.
If your looking at a car to buy and convert, a 1.8 gets you numerous upgrades including larger clutch and flywheel, and a 7" diff over the 6" of the early 1.6.
