Hands free Mic placement

Finally got around to fitting Bluetooth/DAB radio. Gave up on the idea of replacing double din ,and went for single din plus Mazda chubby box below
Problem is ,best position of Mic .
Normal cars at easy, but a soft top ?
I am thinking low down on screen pillar.
Thoughts or experiences please

on top of the steering column/stalks cover thingy, behind the wheel, out of the wind then. Have always mounted them in this position, regardless of car and never had issues.
