Looking at a W reg 1.8 NB, the car has history and says the cam belt was changed at 30k in 2009.
It now has 43k on the clock in 2017 when should the timing belt be changed?
And if so how difficult is it for a DIY mechanic? Or should it be done by a pro?

The NB engine is a non interference fit so if the timing belt snaps it won't do any serious damage.

It can be done DIY but I wouldn't bother. I'd also guess that the cost of the car doesn't justify spending too much for the pro to do it....

I'd leave it. It'll be fine.

The book says change the belt after 50k to 60k miles, so I also suggest that yours is ok and you can just leave it.
