Help needed to identify loose pipe.

Hi guys....I have a 2000 mx5, 1.8, and have discovered a pipe hanging down below the inlet manifold. It comes out of the bottom of a canister ( the manual calls it a carbon container ) and points downward. It is about 6mm ID and could be something to do with recirculating gasses?
There is the remains of a broken plastic tube at the end of the rubber pipe.
Can someone tell me where it should be connected? Thanks.

Here's a removal guide. Reverse some of these steps or just take it out.
