Mazda OBD protocol
Discussion
Scratching my head here because I cannot figure out what is going on
I have a £7 ebay dongle off ebay and the Torque app and this thing is able to see all the Mode 1 (SAE J1979 stuff) PIDs from the OBDII port. It can do this on both my 2006 Honda Civic and my newer 2015 Mazda 3. Both petrol.
For work I have been loaned a proper OBD vehicle data logger. All singing all dancing jobby that costs nearly £2k once you've added GPS, accelerometers and a 3G connection to stream the data and control the unit remotely.
Now I was able to get this set up on the Honda straightforwardly using their built in OBD-Extended example which uses ISO15765 (as all modern cars supposedly do). There are a lot of other settings to play with mind.
But it will not work at all on the Mazda. It cannot see the data. So what is the cheapy £7 job able to do that the £2000 kit can't? Does anyone know the proper OBD protocol settings for the Mazda OBDII module?
